Crystal Heart Ornament, Engraved with Your Photo
A crystal heart ornament is the one people hang at eye level, where visitors will see it. The faces are cut like a gemstone, so tree lights hit the edges and scatter, and the photograph engraved inside the glass glows rather than sitting flat on a surface. It is a little wider than a drinks coaster and hangs on a ribbon. A personalized ornament of this kind tends to become the first thing unpacked each December, which is a different job from the rest of the decorations on the tree.
Why It Survives the Loft
Printed ceramic discs and photo prints behind plastic fade, peel and chip after a few seasons in a box in the roof. Here the engraving is inside the crystal, where nothing can reach it: no ink to lose colour, no printed layer to lift at an edge, no surface to scratch against the other decorations. Twenty Christmases from now it will look exactly as it did on the proof you approved. At a quarter of an inch thick it also has some weight to it, so it hangs straight rather than spinning on the branch.
A Photograph, Lettering, or Both
Send a close photo of a couple, a child, a parent or a pet, since one or two figures is the recommended limit at this size and the curve of a heart crops the corners of a frame. You can also ask for text alone: a name with a year, initials with a wedding date, or two dates for a remembrance ornament. On the Tree and Off It
Clear crystal does something a ceramic disc cannot: light from the tree passes straight through it and lifts the engraving from behind. That is the whole reason this shape works among fairy lights rather than competing with them. A stand can be added if the ornament is to stay out all year on a shelf, which is what a good many of these end up doing, particularly the remembrance ones.
A cleaning kit is available for fingerprints on the cut faces. It arrives in a gift box.

Why a Crystal Heart Ornament Outlasts a Printed One
Printed and ceramic ornaments carry the image on the surface, where wrapping paper, loft heat and years of handling gradually take it apart. Choosing the Photograph
An ornament is small, so the subject needs to be close in the original file. A face that fills much of your photo will engrave clearly; one shot from across a room will not. Group photos of more than two people are better suited to our larger ornaments or a glass panel. Our design team crops, brightens, removes distracting backgrounds and tells you before engraving if a different photo would give a better result.
Ordering, Storage and Care
Upload a photo or type your wording at checkout. A designer prepares the file and will tell you if the image needs a tighter crop. The ornament ships with its ribbon in a gift box within 1-4 days in the US. Store it in that box between seasons; heat, cold and humidity have no effect on the engraving, and a wipe with the cloth restores the polish.
