Why a Crystal Heart Ornament Outlasts a Printed One
Printed and ceramic ornaments carry the image on the surface, where wrapping paper, loft heat and years of handling gradually take it apart. A personalized crystal heart ornament is engraved sub-surface: a laser passes through the polished glass and fractures it at a set depth inside, leaving the outside untouched. Nothing can reach the picture. Families who buy one ornament a year choose crystal specifically because the first one still matches the tenth.
Facets and Tree Lights
The heart is cut with facets around its curve, which makes it behave like a prism on a lit tree. Light from a nearby bulb refracts at the cuts, spreads through the crystal and scatters at the engraved points, so the photograph or lettering glows while the clear glass disappears. That effect is the reason customers describe a crystal heart christmas ornament as looking lit from within rather than simply reflective.
Custom Ornaments with a Photo, Text, or Both
Three usual configurations. A close portrait: one face, a couple cheek to cheek, a baby, a dog. Text only: a name and a year, a couple's initials with a wedding date, “Our First Christmas”, or a name with two dates for a memorial heart. Or both, with a short line engraved beneath a small portrait. Text-only hearts are the most-ordered version for remembrance, where families want something on the tree that is quietly personal.
Choosing the Photograph
An ornament is small, so the subject needs to be close in the original file. A face that fills much of your photo will engrave clearly; one shot from across a room will not. Group photos of more than two people are better suited to our larger ornaments or a glass panel. Our design team crops, brightens, removes distracting backgrounds and tells you before engraving if a different photo would give a better result.
Ordering, Storage and Care
Upload a photo or type your wording at checkout. A designer prepares the file and emails a free digital proof, usually within a day, with revisions until you approve it. The ornament ships with its ribbon in a gift box, with a microfiber cloth, within 3-5 business days in the US. Store it in that box between seasons; heat, cold and humidity have no effect on the engraving, and a wipe with the cloth restores the polish.
