What Makes a Photo Keychain Last
A keychain lives in a pocket with keys and coins. Printed and resin photo keychains lose that fight: the image abrades, the coating clouds, the colours shift. In a crystal keychain the photograph is engraved inside the glass by a laser that fractures the material at controlled depths, so the surface stays untouched. Keys can scratch the polish over years, but they cannot reach the image, which is why a personalized keychain made this way still looks new long after a printed one has gone.
Shapes of Personalized Keychains in This Collection
Rectangles and squares are the everyday choice and hold a portrait, a couple or a small family group. Hearts are gifted to partners, mothers and grandmothers. Pet paw and bone shapes are chosen almost entirely as memorials for a dog or cat that has died. Each shape is available as a plain crystal keychain or as a lighted version with a small LED in the frame, which makes the engraved image glow when you press it.
Choosing an Image for a Custom Keychain
A keychain is the smallest thing we engrave, so the subject needs to be close in the original photo. One or two faces filling the frame engrave well. A family standing at a distance, a full-length shot or a group of six will not survive the reduction, and our design team tells you that before engraving instead of after. Phone photos taken close, in daylight, are usually the best source files we receive.
Adding Names, Dates and Text
The clear crystal beside the image takes a name, initials, a date or a very short line. Frequent requests are a child's name and birth date, a couple's anniversary, a pet's name with two dates, and “drive safe” for a new driver. Wording is added at checkout at no extra design cost.
Proofing and Delivery
Upload a photo when you order. A designer prepares it, removes the background where that improves the engraving, and emails a free digital proof, normally within a day. Ask for revisions until it is right. After approval we engrave, assemble, box and ship within 3-5 business days in the US. Each keychain includes a microfiber cloth; wiping the polished glass is all the maintenance it needs.
