A heart key ring carries its meaning in the outline, so it works before anyone looks closely at the picture inside. A metal cap and ring are fitted to the top of the K9 crystal, and this is the 2D version: your photo is engraved as a single tonal layer within the glass rather than modelled in depth. Heart shaped key rings are among the most common things people carry for someone else, and the reason is as practical as it is sentimental. A framed photo stays in one room; this goes wherever the keys go.
What Flat Engraving Does Better
A 3D engraving builds your picture into a depth model, which is extraordinary with one clear subject and unreliable when the file cannot support it. Flat engraving renders the tones that are really there, which makes a heart photo keychain the right pick for scans of older prints, pictures taken at a distance, and any image where a depth conversion would have to invent detail nobody photographed. It also holds crisp edges, so a silhouette, a date or a line of handwriting comes out sharp at a size this small.
Carried, Not Displayed
The engraving sits inside the crystal, where keys, coins and months in a coat pocket cannot reach it, unlike printed or resin keychains that abrade within a season. There is no ink, so nothing fades in a car window either, and only the outside of the block shows the wear a keyring collects. A name, initials or a date can be engraved beside the image at no extra cost, which is worth using when the gift marks one specific day. Three sizes are made, each recommended for one or two faces.

2D and 3D Are Not the Same Product
A 3D crystal converts your photograph into a depth model and engraves it at many levels, which is extraordinary with one clear subject against a plain background. A 2D keychain engraves a single tonal layer, like a fine halftone held inside the glass. That is the better choice when the photo has several faces, a busy background, low resolution, or is a scan of an old print, because nothing has to be invented to create depth.
Why Crystal Instead of Printed Acrylic
A keychain lives in a pocket with keys and coins. Printed and resin photo keychains lose that fight: the image abrades, the coating clouds, the colours shift. Here the photograph is inside the material and the surface is bare polished crystal. Keys can mark the polish over years but cannot reach the picture, which is why a crystal heart keychain still looks legible long after a printed one has gone.
Photo Scale at Keyring Size
This is the smallest thing we engrave, so how much of the frame your subject occupies matters more than megapixels. One or two faces filling the photo engrave well. A family of six photographed at a distance will not survive the reduction, and our designers tell you that before engraving rather than after. Close daylight phone photos are usually excellent source files.
Adding Text
The clear crystal beside the image takes a name, initials, a birth date or an anniversary. A personalized heart keychain with a name and date is the most-ordered configuration, and there is no extra design charge for the wording.
Proofing and Delivery
Upload a photo at checkout. A designer prepares it and removes the background where that improves the engraving. The finished keychain ships in a gift box within 1-4 days in the US.
