3D Crystal for Scorpio

The scorpion engraved inside a block of optical crystal as a figure of connected points, with the constellation traced across it, the symbol above and the name beneath. Scorpio gifts tend to go wrong by being too soft, and this one is not: a long curved body ending in a raised tail, drawn as a star pattern rather than as decoration. Engraving sits inside the crystal, where nothing can reach it.

A Constellation That Actually Traces Its Animal

Scorpius is one of the very few patterns in the sky that looks like the thing it is named after. A line of stars forms the head and claws, the body curves down and round, and the tail hooks back up to a double star called Shaula, the sting. At the heart of it sits Antares, a red supergiant so large that if it stood where our sun does it would swallow the orbit of Mars. Its name means rival of Mars, given for its colour, and it is one of the most obviously red objects visible without equipment.

The Sign People Have Opinions About

Scorpio is traditionally associated with intensity, privacy and a long memory, and it is the sign most likely to be described in terms its own people find unfair. Whatever the truth of it, the recipient almost certainly knows the reputation and has a position on it. A gift that treats the sign as a constellation rather than as a personality test avoids the argument, which is part of why the engraving here is a star figure and not an illustration of a character.

Three Sizes and the Light

Three sizes are made. The small sits in one hand, while the large is what gives the scorpion presence across a room. The figure is cut at varying depths within the block, so the curve of the tail genuinely recedes rather than lying flat. An LED base can be added underneath; on a long trailing shape the light from below follows the curve and is the version most people prefer after dark.

Ultra HD reaches 4.5 million points where Standard reaches 3 million. It is half as much detail again. A light base underneath is what makes it read. Text engraving is free. Each additional copy comes at 50% off.
