3D Crystal for Capricorn

The goat engraved inside a block of optical crystal as a figure of connected points, with the constellation traced over it, the symbol above and the name beneath. Capricorn gifts are usually bought for someone practical, which rules out most of what gets sold under a star sign; a solid object with no function and no upkeep at least does not pretend to be useful.

One of the Oldest Patterns Still in Use

Capricornus is faint, a wide shallow triangle of dim stars that few people can pick out, but it is among the oldest constellations on record. Babylonian tablets describe the same stretch of sky as a goat with the tail of a fish, and that hybrid survived into the Greek and Roman skies and into the symbol still used today, which is why the glyph looks like two different animals joined. Three thousand years of continuous use is unusual even among the twelve, and it is the fact most worth knowing about this sign.

Long Horizons

Capricorn is traditionally associated with patience, discipline and a willingness to work on something for years before it shows. It is the sign least impressed by novelty, so a gift that will look identical a decade from now suits it better than one that is interesting for a month. The engraving is inside the material rather than on it, which means there is no printed surface to wear, and the figure does not date because a star pattern cannot. For the same reason this is one of the few zodiac objects that does not read as a novelty after the birthday has passed.

Three Sizes and the Base

The small measures 1.97 inches at the base by 3.15 tall and weighs 1.09 pounds; the medium is 2.76 by 3.94 at 2.28; the large 3.15 by 4.72 at 3.14. Each is cut at varying depths so the figure carries real volume rather than lying on a single plane. An LED base can be added, and a faint constellation benefits from it more than a bright one does, since the engraving is what the eye finds first in the dark. A cleaning kit, crystal accessories, gift wrapping and a pop up greeting card are offered alongside it. The design is made, so nothing is uploaded and no proof is needed. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.
