3D Crystal for Pisces

Two fish engraved inside a block of optical crystal as figures of connected points, joined by the cord that is part of the constellation, with the symbol above and the name beneath. Pisces gifts are bought for the last sign of the zodiac, and there is a piece of astronomy behind that position which makes this the natural bookend to the Aries crystal in the same series.

Where the Year Now Begins

The point at which the sun crosses the celestial equator each spring was named for Aries thousands of years ago. The slow wobble of the Earth's axis has carried that point westward ever since, and it now lies in Pisces. So the constellation at the end of the zodiac is the one that actually holds the sky's starting line, while the sign that opens the list no longer does. The stars themselves are faint; the recognisable part is the Circlet, a small ring of dim stars marking the head of the western fish, which is the easiest way in for anyone trying to find it.

The Sign of the Blurred Edge

Pisces is traditionally associated with imagination, empathy and a tendency to drift rather than decide, and the two fish are usually described as swimming in opposite directions while tied together. It is the sign most often given something decorative rather than practical, and this is a piece with no function at all beyond being looked at, which for once is the correct answer. The figure is drawn as a star pattern rather than as an illustration of fish, so it stays on the side of astronomy and away from the softer styling the sign usually attracts.

Sizes, Light and What Arrives

Three sizes are made: 1.97 by 3.15 inches at 1.09 pounds, 2.76 by 3.94 at 2.28, and 3.15 by 4.72 at 3.14. Engraving at varying depths inside the crystal lets the two fish sit at different distances from the front face rather than on one plane, which matters on a design built from a pair. The add-ons are an LED base, gift wrapping, crystal accessories, a pop up greeting card and a cleaning kit. Nothing is uploaded and nothing waits for approval, since the design is already made. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.
