Clear Prism Candle Holder

The largest piece in this range: a faceted block of clear crystal 6.10 inches wide and 3.54 tall, weighing 3.21 pounds, with a candle recessed into the top and your photograph engraved inside the body of the glass. It is more than half an inch wider and three quarters of an inch taller than the other two shapes, and half a pound heavier again than the leaf.

What the Facets Do With a Flame

A flat face reflects light back the way it came. A cut face sends it into the body of the crystal instead, and with several faces at different angles a single flame becomes a dozen bright points that shift as you move past the piece. A steady LED would look static on a shape like this. A flame does not, and the combination of moving light and cut crystal is the reason this is the version people choose when the object is meant to be noticed rather than to sit quietly in a corner.

Size as a Deciding Factor

Three and a quarter pounds and three and a half inches of height put this closer to a centrepiece than to a shelf object. It needs a clear surface rather than a crowded one, it does not disappear among books and picture frames, and on a table it is visible from every seat. That is an advantage in a living room and a drawback on a bedside table, where the ellipse at just over two pounds is the more sensible choice. The engraving field is correspondingly larger, so a photograph with two or three people in it keeps more detail here than on the smaller shapes.

Engraving, Text and Ordering

The image is engraved inside the material at varying depths rather than printed on it, so handling, sunlight and cleaning cannot reach it. Depth engraving asks for a close, reasonably sharp photograph with the subject clear of the background; our designers retouch what you send and email you a free proof, and nothing goes to the laser until you approve it. Free text engraving is included for a name, a date or a short line. The background can be kept or removed. A scented candle comes with it and the recess takes an ordinary votive afterwards. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.
