Clear Ellipse Candle Holder

A ring of optical crystal 5.51 inches across and 2.76 tall, weighing just over two pounds, with a candle standing in the opening at its centre and your photograph engraved into the body of the glass beside it. Every other crystal we make needs a lamp bought separately before the engraving lights up. This one arrives with its own light source, and the light moves.

A Flame Is Not an LED

An LED base lights an engraving evenly and identically every evening. A flame does not. It leans, it brightens, it drops, and the points the laser has cut inside the crystal catch it differently each time, so the picture is never lit twice the same way. On a curved body that effect travels, because the light runs around the inside of the ring rather than stopping at a flat face. It is the reason this range exists as something separate from the crystals on a base.

The Plainest of the Six, and the Lightest

Of the three shapes in this range the ellipse is the lowest and the least assertive, and at 2.13 pounds it is also the lightest thing here. That makes it the one that works on a dining table, where a taller piece blocks the person across from you, and the one that suits a bathroom shelf or a bedside table without dominating them. The leaf has the same footprint with half a pound more crystal in it, and the prism is noticeably bigger in every direction. If you want the candle to be the event and the object to stay quiet, this is the version to take.

Engraving, the Candle and Ordering

Your picture is engraved inside the crystal at varying depths, so it has volume and nothing sits on the surface to scratch or discolour. A close, reasonably sharp subject is what depth engraving needs; our designers retouch what you send and email a free proof before the laser runs. Free text engraving is included for a name, a date or a line of your own. The background can be kept or removed. A scented candle comes with it, and the recess takes an ordinary votive afterwards, so the piece does not stop working once the first candle is finished.
