It shares its footprint exactly with the ellipse in this range and weighs half a pound more, and that half pound is the whole difference between them.

Where the Extra Crystal Goes

At 2.53 pounds against 2.13, the leaf is solid where the ellipse is open. The ring shape has a hole through the middle of it; this one is a body of glass with a hollow cut for the candle, so there is more material between the flame and the engraving. In practice the picture sits deeper in the crystal and the light reaches it through more glass, which softens it and spreads it rather than lighting it sharply from one side.

A Flat Panel Instead of a Curve

The face carrying the engraving is flat. On the ellipse the image follows a curve, which suits a single subject but distorts a wide one at the edges; here the picture keeps its proportions from corner to corner, so two people side by side read correctly and a photograph with a horizon or a straight line in it stays straight. The result is closer to a framed photograph standing next to a candle than to an object with a picture wrapped around it. Whether that is what you want depends entirely on the photograph, which is why both shapes are made rather than one.

Light, Engraving and Ordering

The taper gathers the light toward the point, so the brightest part of the object is furthest from the flame, which is the opposite of what you expect and the reason people notice it. Your picture is engraved inside the crystal at varying depths and cannot fade, scratch or be rubbed away.
