A bone-shaped pendant is unmistakably a dog's, and that is the whole argument for it. It reads as a treat, a toy, a thing buried in the garden, so it suits the dog who stole socks and met everyone at the door rather than a piece designed purely for mourning. This is the three-dimensional version: your photograph is engraved at varying depths inside the crystal, so the face has volume and a dark muzzle keeps its shape instead of flattening into a shadow. A chain is included. Cat owners will feel the mismatch here, and the paw pendant suits any animal.
A depth model is built from what the file actually contains, so it rewards a picture taken close, reasonably sharp, with the dog clear of the background. Given that, the result is something a flat engraving cannot match, because the head gains real dimension as you turn the pendant. If your only photograph was taken from across a field or scanned from an old print, the 2D version will serve it better, and our designers will tell you so on the proof rather than let you discover it later.
Printed and resin charms lose their image within months of being worn, since it sits on the outside. Here it is within the material, where clothing, skin, water and sunlight cannot reach it, so nothing rubs away or fades. A name and dates can be engraved beside the picture at no extra cost, and most owners add at least the name. Held toward a window the crystal fills with light and the engraving lifts out of it.
Send any photo you like and our designers retouch it first, lifting the face and clearing whatever is behind it. You receive a free proof by email, and nothing goes to the laser until you approve it. Some owners buy while the dog is still asleep on the sofa, others years after, when a photograph has finally stopped hurting to look at. Christmas and gotcha days account for most of the rest. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.

Both shapes carry a dog's photograph, and the choice between them is about tone rather than quality. A paw is quiet and works for any animal. A bone is unmistakably canine and unmistakably cheerful, which is why customers choose it for the dog who stole food, barked at the postman and made the household laugh. As a memorial it remembers the joy rather than the loss, and plenty are bought for living dogs.
A laser is focused through the polished surface of the crystal and fractures the glass at a set depth inside it, building your photograph as a single tonal layer. Nothing is applied to the outside. A glass dog bone pendant made this way has no coating to cloud, no ink to abrade and no resin to yellow, so it looks the same after years of daily wear as it did in the box.
The bone is a wide, horizontal shape, which suits a head-and-shoulders photograph better than a full-body one: a dog standing sideways loses coherence across the narrow waist of the shape. Close daylight photos work best, and our design team crops, brightens and removes backgrounds before sending a free proof. If your photo will not carry at pendant scale, we say so first.
The clear crystal beside the image takes a name, two dates or a short line. A dog bone necklace with name is the most common configuration; for memorials most customers add years rather than full dates. Add the wording at checkout at no extra design cost.
Crystal does not tarnish or react to skin, so daily wear is fine; remove it for swimming to protect the chain rather than the glass. Upload a photo at checkout, approve the free proof a designer sends within about a day, and the finished necklace ships in a gift box within 3-5 business days in the US.
