Green 3D Crystal Skirt Portrait

An upright crystal block on a skirt of deep green glass, 3.74 inches tall, with your photograph engraved inside the clear section above it. Green is the least common of the four colours in this series and the most specific in what it suits. It reads as forest rather than decoration, which is why it tends to be chosen for a subject who belonged outdoors: someone who walked, fished, gardened, kept horses, or was never photographed indoors if it could be helped.

The Colour With a Subject in Mind

Amber is warm and traditional, blue is cool and neutral, red is emphatic. Green is the one that says something about the person in the picture rather than about the room it stands in. It also behaves differently in light: deep green absorbs more than the other three, so the glow at the base is quieter and the contrast between the coloured skirt and the clear block is sharper. Against a dark shelf or a bookcase it looks considered; on a white windowsill it can disappear, so put it somewhere with a darker background behind it.

The Portrait Format

The block is 1.97 inches square and stands nearly four inches high, which gives a standing figure the whole height of the crystal. A single person, a couple, or a dog standing alert all suit it. Up to five figures are recommended, though a row of people spread across a frame belongs in the landscape version of the same crystal, where the width is there to hold them.

Engraving and Options

Your picture is engraved in Ultra HD inside the crystal, so nothing on the outside can damage it, and free text engraving is included for a name, a date or a line of your own. The background can be kept or removed, and with this colour keeping it is worth considering more often than usual: a treeline or a field behind the subject does not fight a green skirt the way it might fight a warmer one. An LED base can be added to light the block from below. Three sizes are made, and on this colour the larger blocks carry the green further up the crystal, which is worth knowing if you want the effect to be obvious. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.
