Green Leaf Candle Holder

A leaf-shaped block of optical crystal 5.51 inches across and 2.76 tall, 2.53 pounds, with green worked into the crystal around the candle recess and your photograph engraved in the clear part beside it. Of the six pieces in this range it is the only one where the shape and the colour say the same thing, and that is why it reads as a single idea rather than as a form with a tint applied to it.

Shape and Colour Agreeing

A leaf that is green is not a decision anyone has to explain. On the other coloured pieces the colour is a choice about light and about the room; here it is part of the object's own logic, which makes it the easiest of the six to give to someone whose taste you are not sure of. It suits a photograph taken outdoors particularly well, and it is the version people choose for someone who gardened, walked or spent their time outside.

What the Green Does to the Flame

The candle stands in the coloured section and the engraving sits in clear crystal, so faces stay in neutral white engraving and the colour never washes across them. What changes is the light reaching the picture: green is the coolest of the tints without going as cold as blue, and it throws a faint cast onto whatever the piece stands on. A crystal votive holder in a strong colour is worth placing deliberately rather than anywhere there is room, because a pale wooden shelf will pick that cast up and a dark one will not.

Engraving, the Candle and Ordering

The image is engraved inside the material at varying depths, which gives it volume and puts it out of reach of handling, sunlight and cleaning. Depth engraving needs a close, reasonably sharp photograph with the subject clear of the background; our designers retouch what you send and email a free proof before anything is cut. Free text engraving is included for a name, a date or a short line, set in the clear crystal beside the picture. The background can be kept or removed. A scented candle comes with it, and the recess takes an ordinary votive afterwards. Gift box included, made in 1-2 business days, US delivery in 3-5.
