A conventional photo pendant is a locket or a printed disc: the picture is on a surface, behind glass or under resin, and it scuffs, yellows or peels with wear. Ours is engraved inside solid crystal. A laser focuses through the polished glass and fractures it at precise depths, and millions of those microscopic points form your photograph as a three-dimensional shape suspended in the pendant. Nothing is on the outside, so a picture pendant necklace made this way survives daily wear without degrading.

Choosing Between Our Crystal Necklace Shapes

The heart pendant is the most-ordered piece, usually for a partner, a mother or a grandmother, and takes a close portrait or a couple. The rectangle is the more understated option and suits a single face, a family group or a portrait with a name engraved beside it. Pet paw and bone pendants are chosen almost exclusively as memorial jewellery. Larger pendants hold more tonal detail; smaller ones sit closer to the collarbone and read as everyday jewellery rather than a statement piece.

Which Photos Suit a Picture Necklace

Scale is the thing to get right. A pendant is small, so a face that occupies a quarter of your original photo will engrave as a very small face in the crystal. Close portraits work best: one or two people, filling the frame, in good light. Full-length shots and large group photos lose too much at pendant size, and we will say so when we prepare your proof rather than engrave something you will be disappointed by. Phone photos are fine if the subject is close and in focus.

Chains, Metals and Everyday Wear

Each pendant ships with a chain, and the crystal itself is set in a metal frame or bail depending on the shape. Crystal does not tarnish, react to skin or need polishing, so the pendant will not change colour the way plated metal does. It can be worn in the shower without harming the engraving, though we suggest removing it for swimming, since chlorine is hard on chains and clasps rather than on glass.

A designer prepares the file and emails a free digital proof, normally within a day, and revises it as many times as you need. Once you approve, we engrave, assemble, box and ship within 3-5 business days in the US. Every order includes a microfiber cloth, which is the only maintenance a crystal photo pendant ever needs.
