Ask one question first: how many people are in the photo?

If the answer is more than two, this is your shape. Picking the Perfect Photo for Your Crystal Square

Most photos will work, and our design team can adjust yours if needed. The image should be well lit, free of blur, and the people you want to include should be clearly visible. That is the whole checklist.

One thing worth knowing before you upload: because a customized glass picture in this format is square, a very wide landscape photo will need to be cropped to fit, and a very tall one will too. That is not a problem - it just means deciding in advance what stays. If your photo is a wide group shot, tell us so, and we will crop in from the sides rather than the top and bottom. And if you are unsure, send it as it is. We will show you what we would trim before we engrave anything.

A square usually carries more faces than any other shape we make, and faces are the hardest thing to get right in crystal. A slightly shallow engraving that nobody would notice on a landscape becomes obvious the moment a person cannot quite recognise their own grandmother. Multiply that by seven people in one photo and the margin for error disappears.

So we do not let the laser have the last word. Before your glass engraved photo is packed, a person checks it against the same eight points:

• Is the image centered?
• Is the face clear?
• Is the text readable?
• Are there visible defects in the crystal?
• Is the engraving depth correct?
• Is the crystal cleaned before packaging?
• Is the correct base/accessory included?
• Is the gift box protected for shipping?

Only when all eight pass does the crystal ship.
