Built for a Single Portrait

One or two figures are recommended here. The height and the curve concentrate everything on one face, so this shape suits a father holding a baby, a couple, a portrait taken properly rather than snatched. Five people in a row would be lost in it, and the landscape skirt or the bun exist for those photographs instead. Keep the subject close to the camera and the crystal does the rest, since three and a half pounds of glass will not rescue a picture taken from across a room.

Red, and Where It Works

Red is not a quiet colour and this is not a quiet size. Together they announce the piece from across a room, which is exactly right for a birth, a wedding, a milestone or a gift meant to be noticed the moment somebody walks in. In a small or dim room the same combination can dominate, and amber gives the same warmth at a lower volume while blue stays back entirely.
