Four steps, from upload to delivery: 3D laser engraving, a preview you approve, and same-day shipping on your crystal photo gift.
The 3D Crystal Rectangle is the most versatile shape we make: a solid crystal slab with your image engraved inside it, standing upright without a frame. Portrait orientation flatters faces and couples, while landscape suits family groups, pets and wide outdoor shots. A glass photo block is also the most forgiving format for a busy picture, because the flat faces keep the whole scene readable instead of bending it. If you are buying for parents or grandparents and do not know their taste, this is the safe choice.
A picture in glass block is engraved, not printed. A laser focuses below the surface and creates millions of tiny points inside the crystal, and those points form your image in three dimensions. Because the etching sits sealed within the block, dust, fingerprints and sunlight never reach it. A photo in a crystal will not fade, peel or yellow the way a print behind glass eventually does, so the gift looks the same in ten years as it does on the day it arrives. Every block is cut from optically clear K9 crystal, a glass grade chosen for how cleanly it carries light.
Your crystal photo block comes in several sizes, from a small desk keepsake to a piece that anchors a shelf or mantel. Larger blocks hold more detail, which matters when there are several people in the frame. A picture in a glass catches daylight on its own, but in a dim room an LED base lifts it considerably. The base sits underneath and sends light up through the engraving, so the image appears to float in the dark.
Send any photo you like, including a phone shot taken years ago. Our designers retouch it first, removing backgrounds or combining two pictures if you ask, and email you a free proof before we engrave a single point. A photo glass block suits anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas and memorial gifts equally well, which is why it is the shape people return to. Nothing is engraved until you approve the proof, so there is no guesswork about how the finished piece will look. Every order ships in a gift box, is made in 1-2 business days, and reaches US addresses in 3-5.
More laser dots = more wow in every crystal, resulting in smoother, more defined and solid images. Next-level detail, same unforgettable memories.

The upright format is the one that asks least of your photograph. A 3D crystal rectangle gives a portrait room to breathe from shoulder to crown, and its flat faces hold a busy or full-body image without pinching it at the edges. Every piece is laser-engraved by the ArtPix 3D team, so a crystal photo block holds the image within the material rather than on it, and nothing on the surface can rub away.
That is also why it is the shape people choose when they are not certain. A heart declares something. An iceberg makes a statement. A picture in glass block form simply shows the photograph well, from any angle, in any room, to any recipient, which is a great deal harder to get wrong than it sounds.
Start with who is receiving it. Parents and grandparents are the largest group by some distance, because the upright format reads as a portrait, and that is the visual language their framed photographs already speak. A photo glass block also sits comfortably on a mantelpiece beside the frames already there rather than displacing them, which is not true of the more sculptural shapes. It suits anyone receiving a formal picture: a graduate, a newly commissioned officer, a colleague retiring after thirty years. And it suits first-time buyers who have no idea which shape to pick and would rather not gamble on someone else's taste.
Then the occasion. It carries anniversary gift ideas comfortably, since a portrait of two people is the archetypal anniversary image. It works for gifts for parents at any milestone, and it is the safest choice among personalized Christmas gifts when you are buying for someone whose taste you cannot read. For memorial photo gifts, the height lets a single face fill the crystal without competing with a silhouette. A laser engraved glass block will not yellow or fade the way a printed photograph does, which is why families choose 3d crystal blocks over framed prints for something meant to last decades.
One honest limit. If your photograph has several people standing side by side, the square is the better shape: it crops evenly from all four sides, so nobody at the end of the row loses a shoulder. This shape is superb for one or two subjects and merely adequate for six.
This is easier than most people fear. Almost any photo works. What matters is that it is reasonably well-lit, free of motion blur, and that the subject is clearly the subject. Our design team adjusts images as needed, and you approve a free proof of the engraved glass block before production starts.
The quirk worth knowing is orientation. The block is taller than it is wide, so a portrait-shaped photo fills it and a landscape-shaped one does not: either it gets cropped to fit, or it sits as a band across the middle with clear crystal above and below. Neither is wrong, but decide which you want before you order. Full-length shots, which lose their legs in a heart and their sides in a square, are one of the few things glass photo blocks handle better than anything else in the range. A picture in a glass this tall keeps the whole person.
This shape punishes carelessness in a way curved ones do not. Its four straight edges work like a ruler: if the engraving sits half a degree off true, the eye reads it against those edges immediately and the whole piece looks crooked, even when the photograph itself is flawless. On a heart or an iceberg there is no straight reference line to betray it. So alignment here is measured against the edge rather than judged by eye, and that check comes before any of the others. Every crystal is inspected before it leaves the facility:
The crystal ships only once every point passes.
