A rounded crystal 3.15 inches across and 2.76 high, an inch and a half deep, weighing just over a pound. The top is a full curve rather than an arch, so nothing about the silhouette refers to a grave or a headstone. Of the five keepsake shapes in this series it is the heaviest for its size and the one that reads least as a memorial object and most as a portrait.

The Curve and the Clear Band Below It

Because the shape is almost circular, the engraving sits in a field that narrows at the top and bottom, which suits a face and a pair of shoulders better than a wide group. Up to five figures are recommended, and a couple works particularly well here since two heads fill the widest part of the circle. Below the image there is a band of clear crystal that the curve leaves open, and that is where free text engraving normally goes: a name and two years, or a line someone said. The wider landscape version of this shape has less height for the image but the same band, and it is the one to choose if the photograph is of a group.
