The top is a shallow curve, so the piece sits like an arc of glass rather than standing like a marker. It takes the same photographs as the rounder portrait version but gives them width instead of height.

Where the Missing Half Inch Goes

Compared with the portrait version this shape loses about half an inch of height and keeps every bit of the width. In practice that turns a near circle into a low arc, and it changes which pictures fill it. A single head and shoulders leaves crystal empty at either side here, while two or three people across a frame use the whole engraving field.
