LED Crystal Fingerprint Keychain Heart

A heart of optical crystal with a fingerprint engraved inside it, fitted to a metal cap and ring that holds an LED. Press it and light enters the crystal from the top, meeting the engraving from behind so the ridges read as clear white lines instead of a faint grey smudge. That is the whole argument for this version. A print is fine line work, and fine line work needs light passing through the block; on a keyring, in a pocket or a bag, there is rarely any daylight to borrow.

Why the LED Is Not Decoration

Dozens of ridges lie a fraction of a millimetre apart. Against a window they separate on their own, which is why the necklace versions do without a light, but a keychain lives in a coat pocket and a car. The built-in LED gives the piece its own light source, so the print is legible whenever someone asks about it rather than only in the right room. The crystal glows and the pattern stands inside it. Switched off, it behaves like any other crystal and reads perfectly well by a window.

Sizes and Daily Carry

Three sizes are made: 1.18, 1.38 and 1.57 inches across, each 0.59 inches deep, so this is a solid object rather than a thin tag. The engraving sits inside the block, where keys, coins and handling cannot reach it, unlike printed or resin keychains that abrade within months. A name or a date can be engraved beside the print at no extra cost, and most people add one. The heart shape also says what the object is about before anyone is close enough to read the print, which the square and rectangle deliberately do not.

An image of the impression is all we need: a scan, a phone photograph, or a print supplied by a hospital or a funeral home. Our designers clean it up, separate the ridges from smudging and email you a proof before the laser runs, so nothing is engraved until you approve it.
