The 4x6 Rectangle, Made Dimensional
4x6 is the size almost every photo lab defaults to, which means most of the images on your phone are already framed for it. Choosing a 4x6 acrylic photo block lets you keep that composition exactly, with no crop and no awkward letterboxing, while turning the picture into a solid object. It stands on its own, needs no frame and reads from both sides, since the engraving is inside the material rather than on one face.
How the Engraving Works
A laser focuses through the polished surface of the acrylic and creates millions of microscopic points at controlled depths inside it. Those points, placed at different levels, build your photograph as a three-dimensional form. Nothing is printed on the outside, so there is no ink layer to scuff, no laminate to peel and nothing that fades in daylight. That is the practical difference between an engraved 3D acrylic photo block and a UV-printed one.
Portrait or Landscape
Vertical suits a single person, a couple or a pregnancy photo, because the tall frame lets a face fill the block. Horizontal suits a family lined up, a group of friends, a house, a boat or a wide view. Choosing Between an Acrylic Photo Block and Crystal
Acrylic is lighter, softer in tone and much harder to break, which makes it the right choice for children's rooms, shared spaces and gifts that have to survive shipping. Crystal is heavier, refracts light more sharply and feels more formal, which suits awards and mantelpiece display. Both use the same engraving process, so the image quality is comparable; the difference is material, weight and how the piece handles light.
Proofing, Lighting and Care
Upload your photo at checkout, with any text you want engraved alongside it. A designer prepares the file and emails a free digital proof, normally within a day, revising until you approve. Add a wooden or LED base if you want the block lit from below, which makes the engraved image glow after dark. The finished piece ships in a gift box with a microfiber cloth within 3-5 business days in the US. Use that cloth only, since acrylic marks more easily than glass.
