About 2D and 3D Crystal Engraving
3D Crystals proves innovative mementos by combining technology and imagination. Designed to last forever, they are an heirloom that you can pass down for generations. Only the highest grade of optical crystal is chosen for ArtPix 3D products as this material is free of any impurities, and sparkles when polished to our specifications. Choose from a variety of different shapes and sizes! You can customize your crystal to suit your home or office decor.
Photo crystals are created using a special laser that focuses its concentrated beams of light to a precise point below the surface of the crystal. Each bright point in the image is plotted in the final crystal piece. The laser then uses these locations as three-dimensional coordinates. The laser then moves to the next coordinate and makes another etched point. Finally, enough points are created to reproduce the design deep within the crystal. Any design, photo, animal, human form, or product can be engraved with stunning realism.
As laser beams are non-invasive, no marks or blemishes are left on the surface of the crystal. When viewed from any angle the intricate design is viewed much like a three dimensional sculpture.
Our unique software can turn your 2D photos into a mesmerizing 3 dimensional design in a matter of moments! Then, using our state-of-the-art laser technology, we etch the 3D image into a into a flawless piece of optically clear solid crystal designed to last forever.
To create a 2D Photo Crystal our designers transform your image into a laser ready file, once lasered, the image appears flat within the crystal when viewed from the side.
This is called Vitreography, which is a fine art printmaking technique that uses a float glass matrix instead of the traditional matrices of metal, wood or stone. This artform was invented by American glass artist Harvey Littleton and is an excellent way to externalize your photo into a high-quality optical crystal.
With proper care, your crystal will look stunning forever.
Crystal is glass and should be treated as such. Care should always be exercised in its handling. The interior of your crystal will always stay pristine and as vibrant as the day you received it. To clean the exterior, wash with mild soap and warm water. Use a glass cleaner product if necessary. Dry with a dust free cloth.
Sub-surface engraving is permanent, lasting as long as the crystal is intact. Guaranteed never to discolor or fade, you can be sure that your crystal will look exactly the same years later.
