12 Famous Dads Who Make Adorable Parents
It may seem like the lifestyles of the rich and famous are worlds apart from ours. However, when it comes to parenthood, some of their experiences may sound surprisingly familiar.
It’s tough enough to balance career and family without having to worry about paparazzi. Trying to maintain your image while changing diapers can be a challenge! Celebrities who take their parenting duties seriously are worth admiring.
With Father’s Day weeks away, we want to talk about the celebrity dads who don’t let fame get in the way of their parenting. Here are some of the stars that have the sweetest relationships with their kids.
Lenny Kravitz
When it comes to celebrity dad-daughter duos, it’s pretty hard to beat the relationship between musician and producer Lenny Kravitz and actress Zoë Kravitz. They’re effortlessly cool, ridiculously talented, and supportive of each others’ lives and careers.
Refinery 29 tells us that the stars exchange helpful tips on the regular. It’s not unusual to see them attending functions together. Look at how they stole the show at Paris Fashion Week! One of their sweetest moments has to be the speech Kravitz made at his daughter’s wedding. According to Zoë, his words not only made her cry, but they were one of the highlights of her special day.
Chris Hemsworth
We may know actor Chris Hemsworth as a man’s man, famous for portraying Norse god Thor in the Marvel universe. As a celebrity dad, he’s a big softie. Remember when he baked a dinosaur cake from scratch for his daughter’s birthday?
Hemsworth and his wife, model Elsa Pataky, opted to raise their three lovely children, India, Sasha, and Tristan, out of the spotlight. The couple moved to Byron Bay, Australia, in 2015 to give their family an ordinary life. Check out these adorable family photos!
Barack Obama
Plenty of American presidents have been fathers, but not as many have parented young children while in office. We were privileged to watch President Barack Obama raise Malia and Sasha in the White House. He and his wife, lawyer and author Michelle Obama, worked hard to ensure their kids would grow into empowered, educated, and responsible young women. Here’s some of the fantastic advice Obama has given them.
With Malia at Harvard and Sasha at the University of Michigan, we think his words of wisdom paid off! The two young women have been spending lockdown with their parents. Obama has shared that he’s glad to have them home! Here are some of his best dad moments captured on camera over the years.
Chance the Rapper
In 2016, Chance the Rapper showed us what an iconic dad he was by appearing in this KitKat commercial as “Chance the Wrapper.” Dad jokes aside, Chancellor Bennett is a dedicated family man. Long before COVID-19 was a concern, he’d already canceled his upcoming tour. His reason? The arrival of his baby daughter, Marli.
As Bennett told fans, touring had already prevented him from being there after his older daughter, Kensli, was born. This time, he wanted to support his wife, Kirsten Corley, and experience their baby’s first moments. Take a look at the adorable photos of Chance the Rapper and his family in this article.
Frank Iero
My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist Frank Iero may not seem like your typical celebrity dad. Don’t let his neck tattoos and growling vocals fool you, though. He’s happily married to Jamia Nestor, and they have three adorable children: Cherry, Lily, and Miles. While he doesn’t post a lot of photos of his kids on Instagram, he does share plenty of their artwork and music!
You may notice the musician refers to himself as a “Party Dad” on social media. In this interview, he reveals that he got this title from a jump house, where he chaperoned his son’s birthday party. To quote Iero, “You can’t just stop being a party dad.”
Dave Grohl

Rock legend Dave Grohl has a pretty solid music resume. Formerly the drummer for Nirvana, he now fronts the band Foo Fighters. It’s no surprise that he shares his love for music with his three daughters Violet, Harper, and Ophelia!
The best thing about having a celebrity for a father is learning trade tricks from a pro. Grohl has not only been teaching his children how to play, but he even invites them to perform on stage with him! His eldest astounded audiences with her voice covering Adele’s “When We Were Young.” You can read about it here.
Ryan Reynolds
Deadpool might be the least kid-friendly character in the Marvel universe, but the actor who portrays him is an excellent father. Ryan Reynolds has two small daughters, James and Inez. People interviewed him a year after his first bundle of joy was born. This celebrity dad told the magazine, “She (James) has me so far wrapped around her finger, it’s dumb.”
Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively, share very little online when it comes to their kids’ personal lives. According to Romper, the actor doesn’t want to cause embarrassment for them later in life. Considering how the pair tease each other on social media, their children may be grateful!
Jason Momoa
Game of Thrones and Aquaman actor Jason Momoa may brand himself as a free-spirited adventurer, but it was settling down and becoming a father that brought his life meaning. Married to actress Lisa Bonet (ex-wife to Lenny Kravitz and mother to Zoë Kravtiz), Momoa has a daughter, Lola, and a son, Nakoa-Wolf.
According to the actor, having a family has completely changed his perspective. While he may once have been an aimless traveler, he says he’s dedicated to being there for his little ones. Momoa hasn’t given up rock climbing and exploring the great outdoors, however. Fatherly tells us he now shares these activities with his children!
Idris Elba
British actor Idris Elba wears many hats as a celebrity. In 2016, he received the title of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) “for his services to drama,” according to USA Today. In 2018, People awarded him an honor almost as prestigious: Sexiest Man Alive. To Isan and Winston Elba, however, his title is Dad.
Elba’s ability to balance his career and relationship with his kids is beautiful. It’s also something he works hard at! The actor has said that, despite his other responsibilities, he does his utmost to make sure he’s there for his children. His connection with his daughter, Isan, is especially sweet. According to Insider, watching her father work has influenced Isan’s career path. She wants to be involved in multiple areas of the film industry, just like him.
John Legend
If you’re a fan of musician, songwriter, and Elba’s 2019 People successor John Legend, you’d better get in line. His most exclusive private concerts are reserved for his two kids! Here’s an adorable video of Luna and Miles dancing along while their dad plays one of his newest songs.
Legend’s wife, model and author Chrissy Teigan, has some beautiful things to say about her husband as a parent. She revealed that for two months after their baby was born, Legend was there for her every time she had to get up in the middle of the night. The singer, on the other hand, is the first to recognize that it takes a lot more effort to be a mom. He told interviewers that, while he enjoys Father’s Day, he doesn’t need everyone to make a big fuss about it.
Michael Bublé
Many people say they would do anything for their kids, but singer/songwriter Michael Bublé was recently called to make good on that promise. In 2016, he and his wife, model Luisiana Lopilato, faced one of the worst nightmares a parent could imagine. Their son Noah, then 3, was diagnosed with liver cancer.
Bublé had to make a choice. According to this article, some warned the singer that taking a break to care for his son would destroy his artistic career. He decided that being a dad came first. After a year of treatment, Noah was finally declared cancer-free. While Bublé may be returning to the music industry, his wife and children are still the most significant part of his life. He even invites Noah and his other two little ones, Elias and Vida, to join him onstage! You can see photos here.
Stephen Colbert
We can all agree that Late Show host Stephen Colbert radiates dad energy. It’s not too surprising that he’s a great dad in real life. He’s married to actress and producer Evelyn McGee-Colbert, and the couple has three kids: Madeline, Peter, and John.
When it comes to parenting advice, Colbert is just as relatable and down-to-earth as he is on TV. His career as a humorist has a big impact on the way he raises his children. For example, he has one basic rule on what his kids watch: it has to be genuinely funny. You can read more of his fatherly wisdom here.
